The Abortion in Indonesia Should be Stopped

Good morning ladies and gentlemen.

            At this time, abortion becomes one of the serious problems. It can we see from the high rates of abortion increased from year to year. In Indonesia, every year, more than 8000 women do the abortion. From the number, 30% is adolescent aged 15-24 year, based on the data from Indonesia Family Planning Associations conducted of the year 2004-2008 in nine big cities such as, Bandung, Medan, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Jakarta, Semarang, Denpasar, Manado and Mataram. The study results illustrate that 37.000 women has experiencing unwanted pregnancy.

What is the solution to this problem? I believe that doing abortion is very dangerous. It can we see from the result which is happen. Here, I wish to talk about the definition of abortion. I would also discuss about the preventive of abortion. Finally, I would like to show that the Islamism and government have prohibition and law about the abortion in Indonesia.

To begin with, abortion is a health society problem because the abortion gives the bad influence to the mother. It can make her sick and death. Why abortion can cause the bad influence to the mother? Abortion (Latin: abortus) is termination of pregnancy before the fetus weighed 500 grams or before 20 weeks of pregnancy effected fetus death (WHO). On the other hand is from terminology definition, that abortion is practice of a woman that aborts her fetus by themselves or others. Most of abortion is carried out because unwanted pregnancy, so the abortionist choose the practice of illegal abortion to find a short cut to solve this problem. They are not aware that it can cause a variety of complications from the unsafe abortion.

Secondly, let us consider if the abortion is not stopped in Indonesia, there will lose the younger generation that built the nation of Indonesia in the future. From that, the preventive of abortion is needful in society life. The government has information and the rule to the adolescent about the way to help them, so they are not doing the abortion. The information and the rule about that, can they see in the news program in TV, newspaper and internet. The way to preventive the abortion, such as must be careful to choose friends in the social gathering, the preventive of free sex, increase the using of contraception tool, family planning (KB), etc.

Finally, the abortion in Indonesia is illegal it is break of human right. Because of that, the government has many laws about it, printed in the Constitution (UUD). Government said that the abortion law in Indonesia is crime and it is famous with “Abortus Provocatus Criminalis” of term. Some regarding that concerned with abortion such as 229, 341, 342, 343, etc. In Islamism, the law of abortion is illegitimate because the abortion is very conflict with the main purpose of marriage where the main purpose of marriage is reproducing offspring.

In summary, let me reiterate that the abortion in Indonesia is very detrimental and damaged the mothers, because of that it is unacceptable. So, it must discontinue. The government should be notices the action of abortion for uphold the human right, so the abortionist can reduced to save future generations and the nation's progress.
